Sire Proofs Fleckvieh 12/2020

BSG Fleckvieh progeny tested

Fleckvieh Sire Proofs December

Even in these turbulent and unsettled times, the Fleckvieh bulls offered by BSG Greifenberg are convincing with consistency and reliability. The line-up of progeny-tested and genomic Fleckvieh bulls is as diverse as the demands of the farmers on current genetics. With our flagship Manolo Pp* at the top, three new progeny-tested Fleckvieh bulls enrich the range.

Manolo Pp* - The N°1 Fleckvieh polled

Despite a base adjustment to the December 2020 breeding value estimate of -0.9 points GZW and -1.1 points MW, perennial MANOLO Pp* rises to TMI 133 (+4), Beef 113 (+1) and FIT 122 (+5), while he stabilises at 113 points in MW. Thus, he regains the top position among the polled progeny-tested Fleckvieh bulls and leaves the competition behind by some distance, especially in the type traits. But that is not enough, Manolo Pp* is since this breeding value estimation even number 2 of all available progeny tested Fleckvieh bulls, and number 1 after the organic index ÖZW (138).

Already almost 1,700 daughters secure this brilliant performance with their milk performance results, 255 completed lactations confirm the willingness to perform (+779kg ZW-milk) and persistence (115) of his daughters. In conformation Manolo Pp* leaves nothing to be desired, with very udder strong (117) Fleckvieh cows convincing with excellent feet&legs (134) and a tendency to the desired longer and thicker teats. This, in combination with the outstanding fitness traits such as udder health (125, +2) and fertility (104, +4), is the reason for the increase in longevity (120, +3). Taking into account the scarcer milking speed, Manolo Pp* will have a lasting effect on the polled breeding and is also available with female sexed semen.

MANOLO Pp* is the personification of the Fleckvieh dual purpose bull and is also suitable for heifer insemination.

Sire proofs of MANOLO Pp...

Manolo Pp* is supported in the daughter-proven polled segment by the Fleckvieh bull MAHONI Pp*, who was already widely used as a young sire. He is one of the first Mahango Pp*-sons in 2nd crop and comes from a well-known cow family that has proven its adaptability in various farms in Germany and Austria. With 50 first calved daughters Mahoni Pp* enters the Fleckvieh ranking with TMI 122 (+2) and Milk Index 117 (+2) and lets expect cows in the dual-purpose Fleckvieh type. Despite a good performance (+673kg ZW-milk) the 35 daughters evaluated so far show body (frame 120) and strong muscles (122). In the other exterior characteristics, the signature of dam Baronin is clearly visible. The optimally angulated rear legs show a somewhat fuller expression with tight pasterns and enormously high hoofs. The high-attached, small volume udders shine with correctly formed teats and an untypical for Mahango Pp*, a good placement of the front teats. Therefore, Mahoni Pp*, who is one of the best polled progeny tested Fleckvieh bulls with an great udder breeding value of 119 (+1), should also be interesting for robot farms.

With an increase in GZW by +3 points (113) and in fitness by +5 points (105), the homozygous polled Fleckvieh bull Wish PP* fights its way back onto the recommendation list and completes the range of the progeny-tested polled bulls. Already 142 daughters have completed their first lactation with more than 7,000kg of milk, leading to his increase in longevity (117, +3) and daughter fertility (101, +7). In combination with his excellent feet&legs (130) and the well-attached udders with longer and thicker teats, Wish PP* is the most complete homozygous polled Fleckvieh bull with daughters at all.

Line alternatives new on the BSG Fleckvieh list

The Isengard son IMERO was already born in 2013, and with the strong second lactations of his daughters, he makes the leap back into the field. With TMI 120 (+5), Milk Index 112 (+3), Beef Index 114 (+1) and FIT 107 (+2) he shows a very balanced breeding pattern with the emphasis on milk performance with +848kg ZW milk with weaker components. His medium framed daughters move on somewhat steeper and fuller feet&legs. The udders of the Imero daughters are a bit more voluminous due to performance but well attached and with thicker teats. The sire line Isengard x Rumgo x Varus x Engadin is doubtless unique in the Fleckvieh population and allows a wide range of use. Sire proofs IMERO...

WOB is the name of the first progeny tested Wobbler-son at all, who attracts attention with TMI 120 (+1) and Milk Index 111 (+1) and his first strong daughter performances. With Wobbler x Zauber x Manitoba x Perino he also has a unique bloodline and is as well suitable for heifer insemination. Wob daughters are medium framed and well-muscled. Standing on functional feet&legs, the udders of Wob-daughters are small volume and high attached, with slightly shorter and thinner but correctly placed teats. Sire proofs of Fleckvieh WOB...

BSG Fleckvieh: Proven and popular

Reumut-son VERMEER has already been back in action for some time now and now confirms his exceptional position with the first completed second lactations. With 202 daughters, 8,310kg of milk with 4.22% and 3.69% protein in a herd level of 8362kg. Vermeer is the proof that willingness to perform, conformation and ingredients do not have to be a contradiction.

The daughters of Manton's son MONTELINO are also above the herd average in the second lactation with 8.472kg milk. The functional heredity of the conformation as well as the flat lactation curve (Pers 110) lead to an increase in useful life (112, +4).

HOOD, the Hutera-son out of national winner Bluna, promises large-framed, Fleckvieh type animals. 37 Hood-daughters have completed their first lactation with 7,149kg milk at 4.22% fat and 3.53% protein and impressively confirm his performance breeding values of +454kg ZW-milk and +0.12% for fat. Hood leaves nothing to be desired from head to tail, and the calf quality (FW 123) is also convincing all along the line.

With an udder breeding value of 140, Manigo-son MAGIER remains the strongest progeny-tested Fleckvieh bull in the population in the udder composite. Nonetheless the udders of the fertile Magier-daughters are not only beautiful but also healthy which the udder health value of 124 points shows.

BSG genomic Fleckvieh - variety

VENEDIG_Bulle.jpg

Polled Fleckvieh young sires

Breeding for polled genetics has always been a hobby of the Greifenberg AI Center, with the progeny-tested bulls Manolo Pp*, Mahoni Pp* and Wish PP* as impressive results. A wide range of bulls is also available among the genomic young sires, with some interesting newcomers in focus.

The newcomer with the highest breeding value is the heterozygous polled Weissensee son WEGA Pp* with TMI 134, MI 118, Beef 115 and FIT 126, which goes back to the well-known and strong A-line from the Günzinger farm in Austria. Wega Pp* also has large-framed Fleckvieh cows with highly attached udders and extraordinary fitness characteristics.

While Mahoni Pp* is already the first Mahango Pp*-son to be progeny-tested, MERCURY Pp* is another young son who is starting his young sire career. He is the only son of his sire who was born and purchased according to the results of his daughter's test. Thus, a very specific mating with the udder-strong Evergreen daughter Anni took place, who produced her first lactation of 7.164kg milk at 3,67% protein on an extensive pasture farm. Via the bulls Wohltat, Vanstein, Safir and Horb this cow family goes back to the well-known Austrian show farm Eichberger, St. Margarethen. So it is not surprising that Mercury Pp* not only inspires with appealing performance and fitness breeding values, but also offers the expectation of strong Fleckvieh animals with both appealing feet&legs and udder quality.

Well-muscled Fleckvieh cows and excellent fattening traits on the male side let you expect from Volltreffer Pp*-son VENEDIG Pp* with Beef Index 120. His dam Wespa is very impressive after the second calf with the extreme width in the rear udder, the slightly longer and thicker strokes, as well as the high udder base. Venedig Pp* is available with sexed semen.

Hermelin-son HERANGO Pp* is perfectly suited for mating to the numerous Manolo Pp* daughters, as he promises an improvement especially in fat content and milking speed. But also in the udder characteristics he convinces all along the line, which is expressed by his breeding value of 128 for udder composite.

MERCEDES Pp*, WRANGLER Pp* and MYSTERIUM Pp* are three exceptional heterozygous Fleckvieh bulls that are as well suitable for heifer inseminations (confimed by numerous calvings).

Minor the sire of MERCEDES Pp* only just missed the jump into re-entry in the December estimation due to fewer calved daughters, but was able to increase to 129 points in TMI. Mercedes Pp* also benefits from this. With now TMI 132 and a gigantic 120 points for feet&legs and 127 points for udder, as well as the proven cow family in the background, he will also have a say in the insemination process in the next three months.

Also from Wendlinger-son WRANGLER Pp* numerous calvings are already available and confirm him now as heifer bull. In addition to a high-performance disposition, he is expected to have a functional conformation and strong fitness characteristics. Wrangler Pp*-mother Arianne Pp* is about to calve for the 4th time and his granddam Arche is also still at the farm with 8 calves.

MYSTERIUM Pp* is a copy of his sire Manolo Pp* both visually and in terms of breeding values. The first sons of him have already been transferred to AI centers, carrying the excellent qualities of Manolo Pp* into the next generation.

Votango PP

Homozygous polled Fleckvieh bulls

The Fleckvieh Polled-Program is completed by the homozygous bulls HORNLOS PP* and WEEKEND PP* which are already in service since the last estimation. New in the segment is VOTANGO PP*, a Votary P*S-son bred by the organic farm Krautenbacher in Mooswinkeln. His dam Ricky P will soon calve for the 3rd time, granddam Robby is about to calve 5th and great granddam Richina recently gave birth to her 7th calf. Fitness and conformation are, in addition to a solid performance heredity, also at the top of the hereditary pattern of Votango PP*.

Alternative Fleckvieh lines with top breeding values

to the bull DOC, whose sire Dream is freshly progeny tested. Like Mysterium Pp*, Doc comes from the deep-shouldered, udder-strong Watt daughter Laura, and impresses with a high-performance heredity and strong conformation breeding values. Also, the two Waban-sons WETTINER and WUHUDLER leave nothing to be desired regarding the performance disposition of their offspring and can be used very widely.

With TMI 131 and MI 127 SPECTER is still the most interesting and most complete of the Sehrgut-sons. His dam Rola, a Walfried daughter, is very impressive after the 2nd calving because of the enormous texture in the udder and the high and firm udder seat at 48kg daily milking. Udder seat, willingness to perform and fitness are also the qualities that can be expected from Specter. A line alternative for heifer inseminations is the Miami-son MYDARLING, who leads the bulls Hurly, Silverstar and Marginal in his further pedigree. Despite the alternative pedigree, he also offers the complete package of milk quantity, fitness and conformation.

With an udder breeding value of 145 HABSBURGER is the best of all available Fleckvieh bulls in this trait. He descends from the Wattking-daughter Endessa, which goes back to the cow family of the positive daughter tested heifer bull Haribo.

On the dam's side of Elevation's son ELEXIS is the incredibly strong and powerful heartbeat daughter Emelie, who moves on a fine, optimally angled foundation. The Fleckvieh bulls Everest and Waldbrand complete Elexis' pedigree. Despite his high performance figures, Elexis allows us to expect dual purpose cows with functional feet&legs. But the highlight of his heredity should be his high attached udders, which is shown by his udder breeding value of 125 points.

The range of young sires is completed by the Exklusiv- son ESPRESSO, who goes via the extremely willing Herzog-daughter Lavazza back to the exceptional cow and Vanstein-daughter Livana, who has a life performance of over 80,000 kg. Livana's numerous direct offspring are inspiring on the breeding farm with their uniformity, willingness to perform and top conformation.

ESPRESSO, ELEXIS and SPECTER are available with sexed semen (female)!

Your farms and your health are very important for us, thats`s why the events planned for August, such as the Fleckvieh and Brown Swiss regulars bull presentation, will be cancelled. As we still want to provide you with the best possible information about current events in cattle breeding, we would like to take this opportunity to refer you to our new homepage, which has been equipped with many practical functions such as the search for bulls suitable for AMS. On www.besamungsstation.eu you will find under the menu item "News" current topics around cattle breeding.
